Goats ring-bark trees

June 17th 2016

Goats are known to eat anything. Here when given access to young sapling gum trees they make short shrift of this tasty delight! We don't know too much about the how and why of goats eating young or mature tree bark but we do know very young trees are decimated by their presence in only a few days.

Since goats are an introduced species to Australia their presence in the outback has caused mass erosion due to the inability of young trees to get established.

At urisino we have denied access to goats by trapping and humanely transporting them out of the area where they can do no more harm
